Avani Rambharose

I am Avani Rambharose, founder and creator of The Diaspora Youth Initiative. I created this program for the progress of our future that has been struggling in Guyana. Education and health have been things that most of the population thus far has struggled with and I am here to make a change to that cycle. More children need books, education as well as just a mentor who can teach them the ways of life, and that is why I am here. Children have potential to grow up and change the faith of their generations and we want to be the start. Adults need the health education and deserve to live the same health life as they deserve. With this education that they can achieve, many can get jobs and possible support their family. Not everything is easy and that is why I am here!

I am Ashminie Persaud, former teacher of Line Path High, located in Berbice Guyana. I majored in the Social Sciences at the University of Guyana, class of 2019. during my years dealing with social welfare, mental health awareness and education, I must say that the children of Guyana are dealing with many limitations and constraints in school. This is especially the case due to the COVID19 pandemic we are faced with. The turn out of online class is very low compared to the face-to-face turnout, due to the lack of internet access, lack of electronic devices and text books which we are currently working to minimize. I am delighted to be working with students from many administrative regions of Guyana, to ensure that they are well serviced in examination preparation to guarantee a bright future. I would like to thank Ms. Avani Rambharose and all doners for her thoughtful contributions towards this initiative.

Seeta Dalloo

I am Seeta Dalloo, Child Protection Officer at the Ministry of Human Services, attached to the Child Care and Protection Agency - Region Five (5) District. I am One (1) of Thirty (30) Young Influencers of 2022 selected by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security to work with the Ministry in tackling social issues faced by young people in our society and to become a voice for youth across the nation. Most of my Humanitarian work has been centered around youth and social development because I believe that if young people are equipped with social skills and are afforded the opportunity to learn and grow in a conducive environment, they would be better able to cope with the many social issues that plague our society. The Diaspora Youth Initiative offers young people the opportunity to access quality education while emphasizing on important areas of youth development such as mental health and wellness. Through this initiative, I hope to join the contributors in effecting positive change throughout Guyana.
